Cloth Diapering (an Easy Way)

You hear the words 'cloth diapering' and you automatically think "crunchy, granola, hippie parenting". Not that there's anything wrong with that, but cloth diapering actually makes sense for everyone.

Think about it, your baby's gonna poop. That poop has to go somewhere. You can spend the roughly $3,500 on disposable diapers (that can give your baby diaper rash), or you can save about $1,000 of that and use a cloth diaper service.

That's right, a service. No gnarly hassle of having to clean them yourself. You just put the soiled diapers in an odour-proof, water-proof bag, and someone will come to your home every week to pick them up, and drop off fresh ones. It's literally that easy.

There's a super great Canadian company called Wonderwear that provides this service. It's run by awesome, down-to-earth people who just want to make life easier for new parents, and help the environment.

You might say 'Hey, doesn't washing the diapers take a huge toll on the environment with all the water used? How is it any different from disposables going in a landfill?".

Well, Wonderwear uses the most energy efficient washers and dryers available (and their vehicles for delivering the diapers use a technology that reduces carbon emissions). They're also washed in a way that guarantees hospital level sanitation, and doesn't use chlorine or bleach; so it'll protect your little one's sensitive skin. They know what they're doing.

On the other hand, disposables take 500 years to decompose. And Canadians throw out 1.7 billion disposable diapers every year. Does that number scare you at all? Because it's scares me. We don't have the space on our planet for all this trash, especially when there's a super easy alternative!

There's about a million benefits to using a cloth diaper service, I only touched on a few but they mainly are:

Better for your Baby

Better for the Environment

Better for your Wallet
