Affirmation Monday #17

"I express gratitude for all the wonderful things in my life, and the great things that are coming."

Like many of these affirmations, this one is not necessarily directly related to birth. In fact, today is Thanksgiving, here in Canada. And whether you're giving birth or aren't, I believe everyone can stand to express some gratitude. 

A terrific way of realizing all the blessings in your life is through a thankfulness journal. A few years back I would write in one every night. I believe I filled up three full journals with all the things I was grateful for day to day. They don't need to be big. Most of the time a big chunk of what I wrote would just be things like: my family, that I have a body that's able to move well and keep me healthy, that I have food to eat, etc. 

It's a very important practice, I believe, to realize what you're thankful for.
While it's also very important to always strive for bigger, better things, we mustn't lose sight of all the good things we do have in our lives! 

Here are a few things I am thankful for today:

-that Mike and I spent a wonderful weekend up at my mom and stepdad's house
-that we were able to go biking and swimming even though it's October!
-my loving, encouraging family & friends
-my body is healthy and able to do what I want it to do
-my sweet little cats
-that I am able to support myself financially
-for the families who have let me into their most sacred moments as their babies have been born
-for all of YOU who are reading this blog and support me

...and so much more.
